This blog is dedicated to any Human Computer Interaction (HCI) enthusiasts and researchers in Malaysia to share and posts their experiences on everyday design problems. The blogger herself has been teaching HCI for the past 6 years at a university in the east Malaysia. She found that though good aesthetic design have overcome the first impression of many things, the implementations of usability in Malaysian context needs further research. This blog should be written years and years ago.

I am living in an environment filled with design flaws; signs that are illegible (and non intelligible), doors that are difficult to open, lift that do not provide current floor status and confusing road structure which leads to horror accidents, losing our beloved life’s. Everyday things were more pervasive, thus create more problems. Computer applications that should be easy to learn and provide obvious feedback were used to manipulate those who are uneducated and financially incapable. People feel guilt when they are unable to use simple things, guilt that should not be theirs but rather the designers and manufacturers of the objects. This blog is about my experiences as an educator, computer user, human being and a doctorate candidate over the years of fighting the difficulties of poor design of equipment that could not be used, of everyday things that seemed foreign to human functioning (Norman, 1998). The attached youtube link is one of the examples of what I am struggling to do now-to create Malaysian awareness on unusable designs. They are trivial yet very important. I would like to invite Malaysian to share the reality and publish poorly designed everyday appliances/product/bad design things to the context of Malaysia. Let’s begin now!

It is hoped that the writings will provide some insights, fun and paradigm shifts in any ways, hence enhancing any reader’s everyday learning.

The video below is not from Malaysia. We desperately need more and more posts! (I will be on youtube soon)
